What 𐀞 means
It is the Linear B sign conventionally read as “pa.” This kind of sign, called a syllabogram, writes a syllable rather than a whole word. Linear B adapted many signs from Linear A and adjusted them to record Mycenaean Greek, an early form of Greek. The oldest accepted group of Knossos tablets may date to the end of the 15th or beginning of the 14th century BCE. The surviving tablets are palace records of goods, people, and transactions.
Alone, 𐀞 gives a syllable value, not the whole meaning of a word or the name of an object. Linear B mostly writes open syllables; its spelling can leave a final consonant unmarked or add a vowel to break up a consonant cluster. Signs in the p-series can represent p, ph, or b, so “pa” is a conventional transliteration rather than a guarantee about a modern syllable boundary or exact sound sequence.
