What ꓥ means
It marks the Lisu “ng” sound.
It carries “ah” unless a vowel letter follows; tone marks follow the syllable.
Why does ꓥ look like a turned V?
Fraser letters adapt Latin capitals.
The script took shape in 1908–1914, when Karen evangelist Ba Thaw adapted Latin forms for Lisu. James O. Fraser and Lisu pastors revised it for Christian teaching, Bible translation, and hymns. By 2019, it also served education, publishing, media, and literature.
