long left tack

Long Left Tack

⟞ is a mathematical relation mark, but its exact role comes from the notation around it. A longer bar alone does not name a particular operation.

What ⟞ means

Not automatically; the notation decides whether the two can be swapped.

Unicode cross-references ⟞ to the shorter left tack ⊣. That identifies a named relationship, not a universal formula definition; follow the convention stated for the expression.

Why can ⟞ appear as ⟝?

Unicode pairs it with ⟝ for bidirectional mirroring.

In right-to-left text, layout that applies Unicode’s mirroring rule can display the long right tack ⟝. The underlying character remains ⟞.

Why does ⟞ show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
