What 𝝌 means
In LaTeX, \vectorsym{\chi} from isomath typesets bold italic chi.
The isomath package is an add-on for mathematical typesetting. Its \vectorsym command applies bold italic styling to Greek and Latin letters used for vectors and matrices; the chosen math font controls the outline. In HTML source, 𝝌 encodes this exact character.
What does 𝝌 mean?
It is a mathematical variable written as Greek chi.
The letter χ has no fixed value on its own; the surrounding equation assigns it one. In one ISO-style scientific convention, bold italic Greek and Latin letters mark vectors or matrices. Other authors may use different notation, so the equation decides.
Why can 𝝌 become plain χ?
Compatibility normalization can erase its mathematical style.
NFKC and NFKD map mathematical alphabets to ordinary Greek or Latin letters, so 𝝌 can become χ. If an equation uses the style to distinguish variables, that change can merge them. Preserve the distinction when processing math text.
Fonts may draw the character differently. In Unicode 18.0, the chart glyph is an example, not a required design for mathematical fonts.
For mathematical notation; its bold italic style can distinguish a variable, not just decorate text.
NFKC can turn it into χ and merge variables an equation keeps separate.

1Questions people ask
1Is bold italic chi always a vector?
No. One ISO-style scientific convention uses bold italic letters for vectors or matrices, but the surrounding notation sets this symbol’s role.
