What ⟍ means
The stroke goes downward as you follow it rightward. “Falling” describes its direction, not a falling number or a subtraction operation. Its rising partner, , runs the other way.
The pair was designed to represent mathematical diagonal strokes in plain text as well as in typeset formulas. The intended slope of ⟍ is 135 measured counterclockwise from the rightward horizontal—visually, a 45 downward slant. The exact drawing still depends on the font.

Questions people ask
1Why does ⟍ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Miscellaneous Mathematical Symbols-A block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
