What 𐞋 means
It marks a brief retroflex stop beside another sound.
Full-size ɖ is a consonant; superscript 𐞋 marks onset or release.
It extends IPA modifier notation
IPA charts added ɖ among retroflex plosives in 1926; 𐞋 is its raised companion. A 2003 Unicode proposal sought more phonetic modifiers. An IPA-backed 2020 request cited raised stops near nasals in Nukunu, an Australian Indigenous language, and Acehnese, spoken in Indonesia; neither has retroflex sounds. The same 2020 request reports superscript loss in Zoom teaching; 𐞋 is its own character.
