What ဥ means
It is Myanmar’s independent vowel letter for “oo.”
By around the eighth century, a southern Indian script related to ancient Brahmi was adapted for Mon; it is the ancestor of Myanmar script. The earliest known inscription dates to the eleventh century; rounded forms are linked to palm-leaf writing. The twelfth-century Myazedi inscription records writing in four languages: Myanmar, Mon, Pyu and Pali.
Is ဥ the same as ု or ဦး?
No: ဥ stands alone; ု attaches, and ဦး is an honorific.
In Burmese, ဦး is a respectful title placed before adult men's names.
