What 𛅿 means
It records the syllable siu35; context supplies the word. The final 35 marks its tone contour in the reading notation. Nüshu signs usually represent syllables, and several local words can sound alike, so an isolated glyph has no fixed word translation.
Nüshu developed among women in Jiangyong, Hunan, who had limited access to formal schooling. A local legend in the Song era credits Yuxiu, a woman in Emperor Huizong's household, with creating the script to describe her sorrow and warn her family about palace life. Written references include a 1931 description and a 1933 Hunan survey. Researchers began collecting surviving texts in the 1980s as Nüshu became a subject of study and preservation.

1Why does 𛅿 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
