What 𛆔 means
It writes the Jiangyong syllable fu44.
fu44 is the romanized reading. Nüshu signs can represent homophones; a Unicode mapping pairs this one with Chinese characters 夫 and 傅, while context selects the word.
Nüshu’s exact starting point is uncertain. It adapted Chinese-character forms to local speech among Jiangyong women, many with limited access to schooling. A 1931 Hunan survey is an early written record; an often-cited mid-19th-century Taiping coin is disputed as genuine currency. In traditional Jiangyong use, women wrote letters, songs and life stories in Nüshu; wedding books went to brides three days after marriage. Since the late 20th century, local researchers have also preserved it as cultural heritage.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𛆔 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Nushu block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
