What 𛆝 means
It marks a spoken syllable, not a single idea.
Nüshu (“women’s writing”) adapts Chinese characters to record local Jiangyong speech. The character table gives 𛆝 the dialect spelling tciou44 and links it to Chinese characters pronounced alike locally, including 周 (“week”) and 球 (“ball”); context selects the word.
The earliest written account usually cited is a Hunan county survey from 1931. An inscription saying “women everywhere are one family” appears on a coin attributed to the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom (1851–1864), but scholars dispute whether the coin is authentic. Jiangyong women wrote songs, letters, personal accounts, and good-wish booklets for brides. By 2025, local classes, exhibitions, and cultural products also featured Nüshu.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𛆝 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
