What 𛆻 means
It is a phonetic sign, not a word with one gloss.
A Nüshu list maps it to Chinese characters including 喜 (“joy”), 起 (“rise”), and 少 (“few” or “young”). Context picks the intended word.
Nüshu later became a focus of heritage work
In traditional Jiangyong practice, Nüshu adapted Chinese characters to record local speech; women with little access to literacy taught it to one another through poems, sworn-sister letters, and sanzhaoshu (“third-day letters”), wedding booklets given to a bride on day three.
A Taiping-era coin dated 1851–1864 is the earliest known artifact. By the late twentieth century, few fluent practitioners remained; wider attention prompted study and preservation.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𛆻 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Nushu block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
