What 𛇀 means
It records a local syllable, not one fixed word.
A Nüshu character-to-word table gives its Jiangyong-dialect reading as mu13. The same sound can correspond to several words; the surrounding sentence selects the intended one.
How did women use Nüshu?
It let women with little formal schooling write their local speech.
Nüshu adapted Chinese-character forms to write the Jiangyong dialect. The oldest known artifact is a Nüshu-inscribed coin found in Nanjing and minted under the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, a rebel state in China (1851–1864); its inscription says women of the world are one family. The earliest documentary record is a 1933 survey of Hunan counties. Women wrote poems, biographies, letters to sworn sisters (friends who pledged a sisterly bond), and third-day wedding wishes (given three days after a bride’s wedding) in booklets, on fans, and in embroidery. In 2006 China placed Nüshu on its national intangible cultural heritage list.

1Why does 𛇀 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
