What 𛋒 means
It records a syllable, not one fixed word.
Jiangyong is a local Chinese dialect of Hunan. In li35, 35 marks tone. Nüshu lists pair 𛋒 with words glossed “bird,” “body,” and “bucket”; nearby words select the intended sense.
How did women use Nüshu?
Women learned it together and wrote for one another.
Women adapted Chinese-character shapes for local speech despite limited access to Chinese schooling. Uses included poems, biographies, letters between close friends who pledged sisterhood, and sanzhaoshu, a bride’s good-wishes booklet given three days after her wedding.
A Taiping Heavenly Kingdom coin, from a Chinese rebel state (1851–1864), is the earliest known artifact; a 1933 Hunan survey is the first written account. After rediscovery in 1982, Nüshu drew study and preservation.

1Why does 𛋒 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
