What 𐍴 means
It is a letter in Old Permic, the first script for Komi. 𐍴 belongs to the Old Permic alphabet, also called Abur or Anbur, the first writing system for the Komi language. The alphabet is associated with Stephen of Perm and his work translating Christian texts into Komi around 1372.
The earliest surviving evidence includes a Komi inscription on a 14th-century religious icon known as the Zyryan Trinity, alongside alphabet lists, glosses, and inscriptions in manuscripts and on monuments.
The script adapted Greek and Cyrillic models and incorporated Komi tamga signs—traditional marks used in Komi religious practice. It later served as a cipher for writing Russian, making the text hard to read for people who did not know Old Permic. By the 17th century, Cyrillic had replaced it for ordinary Komi writing.
