What ꡶ means
It closes a clause or sentence in Phags-pa writing.
In Tibetan-style Phags-pa texts, ꡶ marks the terminal pause associated with Tibetan shad །. The script was presented at the Yuan court in 1269 for use across languages; many texts used no punctuation, while some borrowed Mongolian or Chinese marks.
As of 2026, some Phags-pa fonts designed for vertical writing rotate ꡶ in horizontal text; the layout changes, not its punctuation role.

Questions people ask
1Why does ꡶ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
