What ⧎ means
Read the shape from top to bottom: the upper triangle points right, and the lower triangle points left. Their opposing directions are part of the design; the name does not tell you to add, subtract or compare anything.
The font supplies the drawing. Its proportions can vary, and a font without this character may show a missing-character box. If that happens, try a font that supports mathematical symbols.

Worth knowing
- Its text shortcut rtriltri appears in the 1998 MathML recommendation for displaying mathematics and in a 2003 table of standardized character names.
Questions people ask
1Why does ⧎ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Miscellaneous Mathematical Symbols-B block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
