What 𐹺 means
It means nine hundred as one complete Rumi value. Rumi numerals were non-positional: each sign kept its value, regardless of decimal place.
Records span the 10th–17th centuries CE across Egypt, the Maghreb (North Africa west of Egypt) and al-Andalus (medieval Muslim Iberia). The signs organized manuscripts and recorded quantities.
The forms connect to Coptic or Greek-Coptic numerals. Toledo’s Mozarabic manuscripts (from a medieval Iberian Christian community) preserve the earliest identified Rūmī/Fāsī forms, dated to the 12th–13th centuries. Moroccan forms served legal and commercial writing. A link to zimām is possible; Siyaq is separate.
Historical and specialist; its documented setting is written records.
In Rumi notation only, 𐹺 means 900—not a modern 9.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𐹺 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Rumi Numeral Symbols block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
