What 𑇢 means
It grew from Brahmi numerals used in Sri Lanka.
This non-positional system gave values their own signs, so a sign's value did not change with its place in a number; it had no zero. Related early numerals appear on Sri Lankan rock inscriptions from the 3rd–5th centuries CE.
It served ordinary number writing and calculations before 1815. The 1815 Kandyan Convention uses 𑇢 to number its Sinhala clauses alongside Arabic-numbered English clauses. As of 2026, Western digits are standard in everyday Sinhala writing, so 𑇢 reads as a historical or heritage choice outside that setting.
