What 🈞 means
The programme is a repeat, not a new episode. Japanese TV guides squeeze information into tiny labels next to programme titles, and 再 is the one for reruns. Many listings show it as a plain 再 or [再]; 🈞 is the boxed version encoded as a character of its own. Its siblings and mark the first and the latter part of a programme.
These labels come from Japanese digital broadcasting: ARIB STD-B24, the technical standard for Japanese digital TV first issued in 1999, includes a set of symbols for on-screen text, where boxed 再 is character 9074. A 2008 proposal brought the set into Unicode, which added it in 2009, so the symbols got standard codes instead of makeshift private ones. Not every font draws it, so it may appear as an empty box.
