What 𘧴 means
It is a catalog entry, not a Tangut word. Unicode’s Tangut components help scholars index, describe, and analyze full Tangut characters. The number 501 identifies this entry; it is not a pronunciation or a word meaning.
Why was Tangut script created?
It was commissioned to write Tangut for Western Xia. Li Yuanhao ordered the Tangut script for the Western Xia state, and it was promulgated in 1036. It drew on Chinese writing principles but remained a distinct script, also marking the dynasty’s separate identity. Surviving evidence includes inscriptions, manuscripts, printed books, Buddhist translations, and Chinese classics. A Buddhist stele dated 1502 is the latest datable Tangut specimen.
Technical; suited to Tangut-script research, font development, or input testing.
Treat 501 as an inventory number, not a pronunciation or translation.
