What 𘪦 means
Use a Unicode picker or Tangut input method.
The number 679 is a catalog number, not a keyboard shortcut. It identifies an entry in the Tangut component list, not an input code.
What does Tangut component 679 mean?
It is a structural part used to analyze complete Tangut characters. Components help index and analyze full characters. In Ideographic Description Sequences—written formulas showing how a larger character is assembled—they can also describe those structures.
The wider Tangut script emerged around 1036 under Li Yuanhao, ruler of the Tangut-led Western Xia state. It helped establish a distinct state identity alongside Song China and drew on Chinese writing traditions without being Chinese writing itself. Tangut served official, private, and religious writing, including a Buddhist canon and works translated from Chinese or Tibetan.
Tangut writing continued through the Yuan and Ming dynasties and was no longer used by the end of the Ming dynasty. Scholars use its components to index historical Tangut texts.
Technical and scholarly; a lone component is used for character analysis, not ordinary Tangut writing.
Do not assign 𘪦 a dictionary meaning or reading by itself; the complete Tangut character supplies its context.
