What 𘪸 means
It is a structural component used to analyze Tangut writing.
In the Tangut component inventory, 𘪸 is used to index, describe, and analyze complete characters. The number 697 is an inventory label, not a pronunciation or translation.
An Ideographic Description Sequence (IDS) is a notation that shows how the parts of a complete character fit together. A Tangut component can appear in an IDS, but the sequence describes the full character.
Tangut writing was developed around 1036 under the Western Xia emperor for state administration and Buddhist translation. It drew on Chinese writing and earlier state scripts used by the Khitan people, but Tangut and Chinese are separate writing systems. After Western Xia fell, Tangut texts included legal, military, Confucian, and literary works. The script remained in use during the Yuan and Ming dynasties and had become obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty.
Technical: a catalog label for Tangut or Unicode work, not ordinary prose.
Do not treat 697 as the component's sound or 𘪸 as a complete Tangut word.

2Why does 𘪸 appear as a box?
The active font or renderer lacks a Tangut glyph. Use a font with Tangut Components coverage; the missing glyph changes the display, not the character's identity.
Is Tangut the same as Chinese?
No. Tangut writing drew on Chinese writing but became a separate script. Similar-looking forms do not make this component a Chinese character.
