What 𗀱 means
In Tangut, it means “to lease” or “to rent.”
The first use is unknown; a 1194 land-lease contract preserves an example. Scholars write its reconstructed reading in scholarly Latin-letter transcription as phio. A study of Tangut contracts links its fixed-price tenancy sense to the shift from herding to farming.
A short element before 𗀱 marks the lease complete. Tangut writing was created around 1036 for the Western Xia kingdom's administration and correspondence, then used for Buddhist translation. Its forms drew on Chinese and Khitan writing traditions; the latest known Tangut inscription is dated 1502.
Historical and specialist.
Its Chinese-like shape does not make it readable as Chinese.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗀱 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
