What 𗂫 means
Tangut dictionaries gloss it as “sheep.”
Unicode links it to Li Fanwen’s entry L2008-2969, a lookup label rather than a translation.
Created in 1036 under Li Yuanhao, Western Xia’s first emperor, Tangut wrote the Tangut language for state use and Buddhist translation. Its square characters may recall Chinese writing, but it is a distinct script. Western Xia fell to the Mongols in 1227; Tangut writing continued, with surviving use recorded as late as 1502.
