What 𗄲 means
The Tangut gloss is “cyan.”
A Tangut reference from the 12th century that groups characters by sound records 𗄲 as a sound-based transcription of Chinese 并. The link is phonetic, not semantic.
Why was Tangut writing created?
It supported Western Xia rule and Buddhist translation.
Tangut writing was established in the 1030s for the administration of Western Xia (Xixia), Buddhist translations, and a distinct identity from the Song dynasty in China. Tangut books included religious, legal, and literary works. Chinese and Khitan influenced the script, but it remained its own system. A Khara-khoto manuscript probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century; the latest known Tangut inscription is dated 1502.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗄲 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
