What 𗅌 means
In Tangut, 𗅌 means “dim” or “hazy.” The Chinese character 曚 is a translation that conveys the same sense.
Tangut writing developed around 1036 for the Western Xia kingdom, serving its administration, cultural identity, and Buddhist translations. The script used a Chinese-style structure but remained separate; this state-building project followed the Khitan, a neighboring people who had developed writing systems about a century earlier. After the Western Xia fell in 1227, Tangut writing still appeared in religious texts under the Yuan and Ming dynasties, then fell out of use by the end of the Ming.
Historical and specialist; it belongs to the study of the Tangut language and writing.
Why does 𗅌 show as a box? In font rendering, the active font lacks Tangut coverage; a variation selector cannot add it.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗅌 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
