What 𗇒 means
It counts bound bundles, especially grass, hay, or forage.
This Tangut bundle classifier is a counting word: the verb meaning “to bind” also came to count what was tied up. The 12th-century Tangut dictionaries Wenhai and Tongyin record 𗇒; Western Xia, the Tangut state, used it in tax rules for hay bundles.
Tangut writing was created in 1036 for Western Xia state-building, including official records and Buddhist translations. It drew on Chinese writing and earlier government scripts used by the Khitan, another historical people, but it is distinct: 𗇒 is Tangut, not a Chinese character.
