What 𗉰 means
It means “to seek” in Tangut.
A dictionary gloss gives its meaning as an action of searching; scholars reconstruct its historical Tangut pronunciation in different ways.
Where does 𗉰 come from?
It belongs to the writing system of medieval Western Xia.
In 1036, the Western Xia kingdom formally introduced Tangut writing for government and a Buddhist canon—a collection of sacred Buddhist texts. The script was also used for Buddhist and Chinese texts.
𗉰 appears in the 12th-century Sea of Writing, a Tangut dictionary. Its on-screen shape depends on the font; fonts may draw the character differently.
Historical and academic; outside a Tangut text, it needs a brief gloss.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗉰 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.

𗉰\17270Why is 𗉰 a box on my screen?
fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
