What 𗉽 means
Its English gloss is unsettled. Specialists reconstruct possible pronunciations, written *sə² and *²sy₁; these are sound readings, not translations. A Tangut homophone dictionary—a reference grouping entries by sound—from the 12th century records it and lists the compound 𗉽𘓮.
The Tangut script was commissioned in 1036 to write the Tangut language as part of state-building and Buddhist translation in the Western Xia state. Its square character design follows Chinese graphic principles; possible influence from Khitan writing is less certain. The earliest surviving transmitted Tangut document dates to 1072, and writing continued after the state fell in 1227.
If it appears as an empty box, the font or app may lack a Tangut glyph. That is a display limitation; the text still holds this character.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗉽 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
