What 𗌻 means
It means “to tame”—to bring something under control.
Tangut scholars give its reconstructed reading as *ꞏjar², a technical transcription rather than a simple pronunciation guide. A 12th-century Tangut reference work on words with the same pronunciation has this form in edition B; edition A uses another form in the matching passage. A Unicode proposal treats the mismatch as a variant or possible copying error, not evidence of a second meaning.
An imperial decree established the Tangut script in 1036 for the Western Xia state. It was used for translations of Buddhist and Chinese works. The script later fell out of everyday use, but survives in historical texts. Its Chinese-influenced structure does not make 𗌻 a Chinese character or give it a Chinese reading.
Historical and specialist; modern use points to Tangut studies or a historical text.
Do not assume a Chinese reader can read it from its Chinese-like structure.

Questions people ask
2Is 𗌻 Chinese?
No. It is Tangut. The scripts have separate readings, so Chinese does not tell you how to read this character.
Why does 𗌻 show as a box?
The active font may lack a Tangut glyph. The character can be encoded correctly and still need a font with Tangut support to display its shape.
