What 𗎙 means
Li Fanwen’s 2008 English index gives this gloss; Wénhǎi and Tóngyīn record the character in 12th-century dictionaries. The Tangut script was commissioned in 1036 for Western Xia (1038–1227) to write Tangut and support government, cultural, and translation work. Everyday use declined after the 13th-century Mongol conquest.
A 2024 study identifies its Juyong Pass use as a sound transcription of the Sanskrit syllable pha: a p followed by a puff of air and an a. Scholars reconstruct its Tangut reading as *phja¹ (also *pha), a scholarly notation for an inferred historical pronunciation.

1Why does 𗎙 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
