What 𗎴 means
This character means “east” in the Tangut language.
Li Fanwen's 2008 Tangut–Chinese dictionary lists it as entry L3450, glossed “east.”
Why was the Tangut script made?
It gave the Western Xia state a script for its own language.
The court-sponsored project dates to around 1036–1037, as Western Xia built its institutions. Tangut writing served Buddhist translations, legal and official texts, and works translated from Chinese and Tibetan.
Its design drew on visual and structural ideas from Chinese and Khitan scripts, while remaining a distinct system for Tangut. Surviving manuscripts and inscriptions include a latest known Tangut inscription dated 1502.
What does 𗎴 mean in a message?
The glyph alone does not reveal why it was sent.
A Tangut reader or specialist can recognize the dictionary gloss, but that still does not explain the sender's reason. If it arrives without context, ask what they mean or what text it comes from.
Historical and language-specific; its dictionary reading is clear to someone with Tangut context.
If it arrives alone, ask what prompted it; its dictionary gloss cannot explain why it was sent.

1Why does 𗎴 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
