What 𗐟 means
Li Fanwen’s Xixia–Chinese dictionary translates it as “natural resources.”
Unicode builds Tangut character names from the identification numbers assigned to them. That label identifies 𗐟 but does not tell you how to pronounce it.
Is 𗐟 Chinese?
No. Tangut is a separate script for a different language.
Li Yuanhao, ruler of the Western Xia, ordered the script around 1036 to mark the state’s identity and translate Buddhist scriptures into Tangut. The neighboring Khitan people had created scripts about a century earlier; Chinese writing also shaped Tangut’s forms.
After the Mongols conquered the Western Xia in 1227, Tangut writing continued under the Yuan and Ming, later Chinese dynasties, before becoming obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty.
