What 𗑒 means
Its Unicode name identifies the character, not its Tangut word or sound.
Tangut characters are not pictures whose shapes reveal their meanings. A Tangut dictionary and the sentence around this sign are needed to identify its word and reconstructed pronunciation.
Why was Tangut created?
The Tangut script was ordered in 1036 for the Western Xia state.
Under Emperor Li Yuanhao, it supported government, a cultural identity distinct from Song China, and a large collection of Buddhist scripture in Tangut. Its design drew on Chinese writing and followed earlier Khitan scripts, but it was not simply derived from Chinese.
The surviving record includes Buddhist texts, translated Chinese classics, encyclopedias, military works, and literature. A manuscript from Khara-khoto likely dates to the 12th or early 13th century. Tangut sources also survive after Western Xia fell in 1227, especially Buddhist works. Those dates describe the script's record, not the first appearance of 𗑒.
Why is 𗑒 a box?
A missing-glyph box usually means the font lacks this Tangut character.
Unicode's chart glyph is a reference shape, not a rule that all fonts must draw every stroke identically. A font without Tangut coverage can show a box even when the text contains 𗑒 correctly.
Historical and specialist; it belongs in Tangut text, dictionary work, and Unicode discussion.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗑒 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
