What 𗑘 means
In Tangut, 𗑘 means “clean” or “pure.”
The Sea of Writing, a Tangut dictionary, records this gloss and the reconstructed reading ¹swe₁. That form is scholarly notation, not an ordinary English pronunciation spelling.
Tangut script was devised around 1036–1037 for the Western Xia state, including to translate Buddhist texts and establish a distinct written identity. Later texts covered law, military subjects, literature, and Confucian teaching—the ideas associated with Chinese philosopher Confucius.
Why does 𗑘 show as a box?
Your font may not include Tangut characters.
A box is the font’s missing-glyph fallback. Unicode’s chart gives a reference shape, not one mandatory design, so supported fonts may draw Tangut characters differently.
A written character with a neutral dictionary meaning.

1Why does 𗑘 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
