What 𗑱 means
The dictionary gloss is “to stretch”; kja² is reconstructed. The asterisk marks a scholarly reconstruction.
Tangut writing was established in 1036 under Li Yuanhao for Western Xia, a state in northwestern China. It served government and Buddhist texts, including a canon, a collection of scriptures; the distinct script marked the state’s identity.
Tangut characters use Chinese-style construction, but the script is Tangut, not Chinese. The earlier Khitan state also made its own official script. Tangut texts from the ruined city of Khara-khoto date to the 12th or early 13th century. Writing continued in Yuan and Ming contexts after Western Xia fell; it became obsolete by the end of the Ming.
The word gives no standalone clue to why someone chose it.
A blank box may mean the font lacks Tangut support.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗑱 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
