What 𗖙 means
It means “to speak” in Tangut.
Chinese records place the Tangut script’s creation around 1036, before Western Xia’s founding in 1038. It was made to write Tangut; the earliest securely dated surviving text is from 1069 or 1070.
The script served Western Xia’s government, laws, literature, and Buddhist texts. Tangut inscriptions on Buddhist prayer pillars date to 1502, after Western Xia fell in 1227.
Is 𗖙 Chinese or Tangut?
It is Tangut; its script reshaped Chinese strokes.
Tangut is a separate language. Its script borrowed and reshaped basic Chinese strokes, so the writing systems can look alike.
A blank box means the font or app cannot display Tangut. It is a placeholder, not another character.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗖙 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
