What 𗛨 means
Li Fanwen’s Tangut dictionary glosses 𗛨 as “to move.” Its English index identifies it as a verb.
The Western Xia state, also called Xixia, established Tangut writing around 1036 for government and Buddhist translation. Its earliest surviving document is dated 1072.
Tangut writing appeared in official and private texts, Buddhist works, and translations from Chinese. It survived into the Yuan and Ming dynasties, then fell out of use by the end of the Ming. Tangut was distinct from Chinese writing, though shaped by it, and developed alongside scripts used by the Khitan people.
