What 𗜅 means
Its dictionary gloss names the Chinese flowering crab apple.
Li Fanwen’s 2008 Tangut dictionary gives that gloss. The Tangut script was created around 1036 for the Western Xia (Xixia) state, for state records and Buddhist translations; it was also used for other literature.
The earliest transmitted example is an official military message from 1072. Tangut writing continued after the state fell in 1227 and became obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty. The script drew on Chinese writing but is separate from it; its relationship to Khitan scripts remains debated.
A historical Tangut word, best read in the context of Tangut texts.
It is a Tangut character, not a Chinese one; resemblance between the scripts does not make them interchangeable.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗜅 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
