What 𗜺 means
It spells a word or name by sound.
Li Fanwen’s 2008 Tangut-Chinese dictionary lists entry 4221 under “a transliteration.” The surrounding text identifies the word or name being spelled.
The Tangut script was introduced in 1036 under Li Yuanhao for the Western Xia state. It drew on Chinese and Khitan writing traditions, served government records and Buddhist scriptures, and later appeared in secular works and Chinese translations.
Why does 𗜺 look like a blank square?
Your font may lack Tangut support or draw another form.
A Tangut-capable font is needed to show its strokes. Unicode records variant Tangut forms across sources, so details may differ while the character remains 𗜺.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗜺 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
