𗝣

tangut ideograph-17763

Tangut Character

1892/6136

𗝣 is a Tangut character; its Unicode label identifies it but does not translate it. It is not an emoji. Tangut writing was created around 1036 to write the now-extinct Tangut language in the Western Xia state of northwestern China. It was modeled on Chinese writing but writes another language. Buddhist texts continued in Tangut after the state fell in 1227; a 1502 inscription shows the script survived.

Why does 𗝣 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
