What 𗝵 means
It means a stake: a pointed post driven into the ground.
Western Xia ruler Li Yuanhao ordered the script around 1036 for state-building and a Tangut Buddhist Canon, a collection of Buddhist texts.
Tangut forms took visual ideas from Chinese writing without descending from it. Neighboring Khitan rulers had created two state scripts a century earlier; one relied heavily on Chinese writing. Tangut books included Buddhist translations, Confucian classics, military texts and literature.
A Khara-khoto manuscript, probably from the 12th or early 13th century, preserves a secular Chinese text translated into Tangut.
