What 𗞗 means
Li Fanwen’s Tangut-Chinese dictionary glosses 𗞗 as “wooden framework.”
The Unicode name is generated from the code point; its number identifies the character, not its word.
Is Tangut writing Chinese?
No. Tangut is a distinct script, though its square characters resemble Chinese.
It was created under Western Xia’s first emperor about 1036 for the Tangut language, a member of the Tibeto-Burman group once spoken in what is now northwestern China.
Official, private, and religious Tangut texts survive. The script remained in use under the Yuan and Ming dynasties after Western Xia fell, became obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty, and was rediscovered in the late nineteenth century.
