Tangut Character 17808

2057/6136

Li Fanwen’s Tangut–Chinese dictionary glosses 𗠈 as “meat stuffing.” Tangut (Xixia) writing was introduced in 1036 to record the Tangut language; its square forms draw on Chinese writing but belong to a separate script. After the Western Xia fell in 1227, Tangut Buddhist texts continued under the Yuan.
