What 𗡴 means
It means “profound, obscure, or mysterious.” Li Fanwen’s 2008 Tangut–Chinese dictionary index pairs it with Chinese 奧 and gives bjịj as the reconstructed reading in scholarly transcription.
Emperor Jingzong commissioned Tangut writing for official and cultural use in Western Xia (Xixia, the Tangut Empire, 1038–1227). Its structure drew on Chinese characters but recorded a distinct language. Surviving literature includes Buddhist translations from Chinese and Tibetan.
Alone, it reads as an unexplained rare glyph.
The “mysterious” gloss is not a standard reaction.
