What 𗣌 means
No; it is Tangut writing. A Tangut dictionary glosses 𗣌 as “to understand.” Around 1036, Western Xia ruler Li Yuanhao ordered Tangut writing for state records, Buddhist translations, and a distinct state identity. The earliest dated example is an official dispatch from 1072.
It continued after the state fell in 1227: a Tangut inscription from 1502 shows its later use. The neighboring Khitan people had made their own scripts about a century earlier, a regional precedent, not proof this character was copied from them.
Chinese writing inspired Tangut’s square, component-based design, but this character records Tangut rather than Chinese.
