What 𗥶 means
Its label is a catalog number, not the old Tangut word.
The Xixia (Western Xia) court ordered the Tangut script created in 1036 for state-building; one likely purpose was a Tangut collection of Buddhist texts. Chinese writing inspired its forms, but the script did not derive from Chinese. The court also followed the example of two scripts used by neighboring Khitan people about a century earlier. Later Tangut texts included Buddhist works, translations from Chinese, and secular writing. A Khara-Khoto fragment from Inner Mongolia probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century.
After Western Xia fell, Tangut writing remained in use for a time before becoming obsolete.

1Why does 𗥶 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
