What 𗦂 means
𗦂 is a Tangut character glossed as “calm.” Li Fanwen’s 2008 Tangut dictionary lists this graph as entry 3259. The Tangut-ruled Western Xia state (Xixia) used the script for government, literature, and Buddhist texts; accounts date its creation to 1036–1037. An official record from 1072 is among its earliest surviving examples; a Buddhist inscription from 1502 shows later use. Tangut writing grew in a Chinese-script environment and is described as influenced by the Khitan people’s writing tradition.
