What 𗦥 means
Its dictionary gloss is “divination.” Li Fanwen’s 2008 Tangut–Chinese dictionary lists this exact character as entry 2117. Divination means seeking answers about the future or unknown through ritual.
Is 𗦥 Chinese?
It is Tangut, a separate script for the Tangut language.
The script was devised around 1036 CE to write Tangut, the language of the Western Xia state in what is now northwestern China. It was used for official, private, and religious texts, and drew visual inspiration from Chinese writing. The latest known examples are Buddhist inscriptions on stone pillars dated 1502.
