Tangut Ideograph 17A4C

2637/6136

𗩌 is a Tangut character, from the script for the now-extinct Tangut language. Western Xia ruler Li Yuanhao ordered the script about 1036 for official correspondence and Buddhist translation; it later carried other books and inscriptions and survived into the Yuan and Ming. Chinese writing influenced its form, and earlier neighboring Khitan scripts served as a model, but Tangut is a separate script.

What 𗩌 means

It identifies the glyph, not a Tangut word. Unicode names Tangut characters by code point: 17A4C is a computer identifier, not this character’s Tangut reading or meaning.
